A self-taught sculptor, Jurgen was born in Trier, Germany, but has spent most of his adult life in the southwestern states. He began his art career carving wildlife in wood, but it wasn't long before he moved on to stone and bronze.

Feeling a kinship to the southwest and the Native American, it is only natural that his subject matter is almost always southwesten in nature and depicts the mental images he has made during his studies of the Native Americans, their religions, and customs.
He has recieved numerous awards and commendations for his work which can be seen in galleries in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, as well as private collections throughout the U.S., Europe, and South Africa.
One of his most recent commissions was a life-size longhorn steer given as a gift from the city of Fort Worth, Texas to its Sister City in Germany.
His sculptures are born of his respect for nature and life. It is his passion to create these works of art and his joy to share them with you.
